Rose-Breasted Grosbeak: Dad’s Favorite…

IMG_6593The rose breasted grosbeak was finished yesterday…Dad’s favorite.  I guess budding ornithologists can be traced back generations in my family.  As the story goes, my grandfather, Clair E. Carey, met and fell in love with my grandmother, Dorothy Allison, on a bird-watching expedition.  While there were plenty of beautiful and rare birds to catch his attention, my grandfather’s gaze fell decidedly upon Dorothy.  The deal was sealed when, as they journeyed through wooded areas, they came across a log that had fallen in the path.  As my grandfather relayed this story, he offered to help Dorothy across the log.  Displaying her calm self-reliant demeanor, she sweetly responded, “No thank you.”  With that, as my grandfather would say, he was completely “smitten”.

Ready for worship this morning, and a day of peace before school resumes tomorrow.  Wishing you, my dear ones, a most blessed day.
